荣膺UNESCO亚太区文化遗产保护奖卓越大奖
我们兴奋地宣布，由梁黄顾担任项目建筑师丶总顾问及文物保育顾问的香港蓝屋建筑群活化工程赢得了2017联合国教科文组织亚太区文化遗产保护奖的最高荣誉「卓越大奖」(award of excellence)。蓝屋建筑群活化工程从来自六个国家的十六个项目中脱颖而出，更是奖项自2000年成立以来，首个赢得此最高荣誉的香港项目。
评审团形容：「蓝屋建筑群活化工程的成功，证明了以接纳丶共融为主题的城市保育手法是可行的。租户丶社会工作者丶保育人士等草根群体组成了大型联盟，携手保护湾仔这片高尚地区中最後一个属於劳工阶层的社群。香港是世界上房地产压力最高的市场之一，但仍有人愿意挺身保护频临拆卸边缘的本地建筑。这股前所未见的公民力量，将会启发其他受同样困扰的城市地区。」
蓝屋建筑群位於湾仔石水渠街，是香港首个采用「留屋留人」概念的活化项目，除了把建筑群复修为独一无二的文化地标之馀，还保留唐楼的原有生活方式，提升居民生活质素和鼓励社区参与。
联合国教科文组织亚太区文化遗产保护奖旨於表扬亚太区内由个人和私营机构主导的文物古迹保护计划，得奖项目清晰地表达所在社区的精神，以及对周边环境丶当地社区文化和历史的延续作出贡献。
We are proud to announce that the Revitalisation of Blue House Cluster, Hong Kong has won the Award of Excellence at 2017 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation, among keen competition of sixteen projects from six countries. This is the first ever Hong Kong project to receive the highest honour since the awards’ establishment in 2000 with LWK as the Project Architect, Lead Consultant and Conservation Consultant.
The jury described the project as “a triumphant validation for a truly inclusive approach to urban conservation. A broad alliance, spanning from tenants to social workers and preservationists, waged a grassroots advocacy campaign to save the last remaining working-class community in the fast-gentrifying enclave of Wan Chai. This unprecedented civic effort to protect marginalized local heritage in one of the world’s most high-pressure real estate markets is an inspiration for other embattled urban districts in the region and beyond.”
Located at Stone Nullah Lane in Wan Chai, the revitalisation of Blue House Cluster is Hong Kong’s first regenration project that adopts “Retain House and Tenant” approach, which transforms the building into a unique cultural landmark while preserving the original lifestyle, improving residents’ quality of life and encouraging community participation.
The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation programme recognises the efforts of private individuals and organizations that have successfully restored and conserved structures and buildings with heritage value in the Asia-Pacific region. Awarded projects reflect a clear understanding and application of various criteria, such as the articulation of the spirit of place and the project’s contribution to the surrounding environment as well as the local community’s cultural and historical continuity.
